EDUCATION: Town/school bus garage to be discussed
Staff reports
Can the town and school district save money by sharing their transportation departments?
That’s one of the questions on the agenda Monday for GI’s town board/school board joint meeting, which will take place 7 p.m. in the high school’s large cafeteria.
Although no action will be taken, both sets of elected representatives and administrators will get together to plan a grant application to study the transportation matter in more detail.
This is independent of the district’s own study of how to increase bussing efficiency on the district level.
The proposed Verizon cell tower on Huth Road is also likely to be discussed, said town councilwoman Mark Cooke.
Since a reported meeting between Verizon and area residents, there has been no further developments, she said.
The town was set to meet with Verizon on Friday.
There is much debate as to whether cell phone towers pose a risk to people, especially children.
Other issues include finalizing the shared municipal agreement document as well as the town buying some space in the district’s six Bridge newsletters a year to help spread town news.
“We communicate to the same people,” said Superintendent Robert Christmann.
